School holiday time music workshops; 2 days per holiday helping those who already play develop their skills and allow those who have never played before try out any instrument. These sessions have also helped many students access to highly valuable rehearsal time and craft songs into a performance used to gain formal Rockschool music qualifications. Several students have been through this system and gone onto study music at Colleges and Universities and some are now working for Musica as workshop assistants or being mentored by Musica workshop leaders in order to become workshop assistants.

Just So Festival – Band in a Day – 2011
he ‘Just So’ festival near Leek in Staffordshire is geared towards Children and has many interactive events happening over the weekend. Musica were running a series of exciting music workshops in which a rock band was created comprising 15 keen budding rock stars! Working with Tim & George the children learned to sing, play drums, keyboards, electric, acoustic and bass guitars (many of them for the first time!) and, to write and perform a song from scratch. The groups then also created a samba piece and brushed up some cool dance moves too! In less than two hours, the band had written a song all about their festival experiences and how the different elements of music fit together to make a finished product. The end result was to perform on a festival stage with a full PA system, in front of a large, expectant and appreciative festival crowd!
Parent comment: ‘A band in an hour, music for a lifetime!’
